Profile Summary

Debarati’s current research contributes to both financial reporting and corporate finance and primarily focuses on their interactions with corporate governance. The dynamics of corporate control (how firms are directed, monitored, and controlled) and its inter-linkages with financial inputs and outcomes intrigues her and has been the primary focus of her research. In this space, her current projects include understanding how certain governance mechanisms behave, influence, and interact; how reporting (financial and non-financial) dimensions differ by ownership type; and how institutions impact internationalization decisions.

She has published in reputed journals like Journal of Contemporary Accounting and Economics, Global Business Review, International Journal of Quality and Service Sciences, and Finance India.

Her teaching strongly intertwines with her research on corporate control. She has taught the core course on Financial Accounting and developed electives related to her research - on Earnings Manipulation, Corporate Governance, and Doing Business in Risky Countries. She has also taught other topics including Financial Analysis, Corporate Finance, and Corporate Governance, across executive programs and MDPs.

Beyond the workspace, Debarati is a food, travel, cars, books, puzzles, and sports enthusiast.
